Our board of directors is comprised of new Canadians from all over the world. Board members represent all immigrant categories (Refugees, Provincial Nominees, Skilled Workers, Family Class and Independent immigrants). Most importantly, they all share the common dream of building bridges between communities in Manitoba and overseas.

Author of We Did It, a collection of refugee stories.
Yun Cheng, Vice Chair
Yun works with local Chinese community and many other groups. She is on the board of directors of Winnipeg Chinese Cultural and Community Centre and the Manitoba Great Wall Performing Arts Inc. Yun is also Principal and Artistic Director of the Great Wall Dance Academy of Canada (GWDAC) which was established in 2007.

Boris works for Acceuil francophone, a settlement agency for French-speaking immigrants.

Habtamu Wedajo
Habtamu works with the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization of Manitoba (IRCOM) as a Community Resource Coordinator. IRCOM provides a post initial settlement support services to newcomer immigrants and refugees.
Habtamu is a refugee originally from Ethiopia who lived and worked in Kenya for many years, where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences. Prior to coming to Canada Habtamu was working with the UNHCR and Canadian High Commission in Nairobi, Kenya as a Community Development Worker and an Interpreter. Habtamu is a professionally trained WRHA Health Interpreter for Oromo and Amharic languages and is a member of Manitoba Refugee Sponsors at Welcome Place.

John is the Manager of Hospitality House, a reception centre that provides temporary accommodations for privately sponsored refugees.
